AI planning checklist for teachers

A one-page checklist to keep beside you when you use AI to plan: before you prompt, before you use it, before you share it.

TEACHING TIP

Keep it next to your keyboard. It’s based on the Teacher Tools AI tips — the full explanations are on that page.

Before I use AI-made materials…

Before I prompt

  • I left out student names, grades, plans and anything that identifies a child.
  • I’m using a tool my school allows.
  • I stated the learning objective first.
  • I gave context: grade, time, materials, what students already know.

Before I use it

  • I worked every math problem and checked the answer key myself.
  • I verified facts, dates, quotes and sources.
  • The activities still match my objective.
  • The reading level fits my students.
  • Examples and names reflect my students and avoid stereotypes.
  • I edited it so it sounds like me.

Before I share it

  • Student copies don’t include the answer key.
  • I’m comfortable explaining how I used AI to make it.
  • I saved the prompt that worked for next time.
